Are we coming into a DEPRESSION?

I'm 31 and admit that I don't read the paper that much, or watch too much news. Milk, food, gas, is steadily increasing, more so in the last year than ever. The housing market right now sucks. Taxes keep going up. Some people say there will be a depression worse than the 1930s, some say it will get better within eight months. No stupid answers just to get the points. What do you think? Not that it matters but where do u stand as far as polotics, democrat, republican, conservative, libral, etc? I'm republican. Thanks
